The Holy Spirit has worked in an amazing way through some wonderful people in Perth. Olivia's drive, energy and passion has allowed the Holy Spirit to start Emmanuel on the west coast of Australia - and in a very short space of time, a handful of people have already made an initial step of commitment in the community.
Other members of the Community from Melbourne and Perth have gone over on a couple of occasions in response to what has been taking place in Perth. Initially Olivia hosted a "Come and See Weekend" in which several dozen people attended. It was a blessed occasion and the Spirit worked powerfully.
Out of that weekend, some people made an initial commitment and a number of people have formed household or sharing groups (or "maisonnees" as they are sometimes called using the orginial French word). There have also been Community Days in which older Community members flew across to assist with.
A more detailed description of these exciting events will follow, along with photos and possibly recorded talks.

Talk on the Emmanuel Community by Fr Yves Le Saux
In 2006, the Emmanuel Community in Australia was visited by Fr Yves Le Saux, the priest responsible for the care of all priests in the Community. Whilst in Sydney, Fr Yves gave a talk about themes that included the Community, evangelisation and the call to sanctity in our daily life.
Many found this talk to be very inspiring, so we have hosted it here. The talk was given by Fr Yves in French, and was translated by Dominic Cudmore in English.

IYF and WYD Slideshows
International Youth Forum Slideshow
With 1,800 pilgrims from over 25 countries, the International Youth Forum in Goulburn was a wonderful preparation for the World Youth Day in Sydney.
The slideshow contains a number of photos of different aspects of the IYF: Mass and praise in the Cathedral of St Peter and Paul and the Showgrounds, workshops in the Workers Club, the 'World Cup' football in the heart of Goulburn, and the faces of so many happy (and maybe slightly cold!) young pilgrims from around the world.
The music for the slideshow is "We Sing For Jesus" by the International PriestBand.
A small selection of photos from some of the activities attended by those who participated with the Emmanuel Community, during the World Youth Day in Sydney. The activities included: Nightfever, catechesis at Sacred Heart Darlinghurst and St Martha's Strathfield, the pilgrimage walk across the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and of course, the vigil at Randwick followed by Mass with Pope Benedict XVI.
